Fasting on the day of mawlid an-nabiy

The Question:

He says: Noble Shaykh may Allaah grants you success, is it permissible to fast on the day of Mawlid An-Nabiy?

Shaykh Saleh Al-Fawzaan answers: No, the fasting is which legislated by Allaah and His Messenger, and it is not legislated for us to fast (on the day of mawlid), yes on monday fast on it, not on the 12 of rabee’ al-awwal, you fast on monday of each week, this is the sunnah, with regards to 12th day of rabee’ al-awwal when it coincides with monday you celebrate because it is the day of mawlid, No, this is not permissible……Yes
